In my experiences, it’s Windows Update in the background causing the lag. Doing it’s shitfuckery things, planting it’s shitfuckery seeds, waiting for restart season to trigger the bloom…
It is funny though, “Updates! You need to restart!”
“Oh, okay!”
Restart > GRUB auto boots to Linux.
I know it’s a future me problem, but I’m in Windows for work like once a month these days. That’s fine.
“Haha! I use Linux and don’t have to deal with this!”
Goes to work, has to use Windows 11 computer and solidworks
At least at work it’s ITs problem if shit goes awry.
Very true.
Good old SolidNearlyWorks
The “ctrl” and “S” key on my keyboard have the letters worn off.
Me: I’ll boot in Windows to use my capture card and stream for a bit.
Windows Update No you are not.
Nothing is better than let’s check something quickly before I go on a two week journey 🙄
Yep PC does whatever for two weeks
Good. Twice the delay, double the wait.
Just go through regedit and group policy settings for anything that feels like it’s going to update windows and disable it.
You really should be doing regular updates.
Disabling updates is dangerous and not recommended for a reason.

You sound like someone who has Norton Antivirus AND a McAfee premium subscription. “Because it’s DANGEROUS to remove them!”
The introduction of a Microsoft developed anti-virus is a large reason why malware and adware prevalence has gone down so sharply in the last decade.
I worked in the break/fix computer industry for almost a decade, and virus cleanups are almost non-existent anymore.
You can meme all you want, but the forced inclusion of anti-virus software has had a measurably positive impact on the average user’s computer security.
It is bad advice to suggest that people turn off updates. Full stop.
Because of your line of work, you only see fools. Now you think the majority are fools.
Same shit happens to everyone.
Cops think everyone is suspicious.
Lawyers think everyone talks to cops.
Doctors think everyone is unhealthy. Ect.
