So when I was a child, my dad was a violent, alcoholic, asshole. And for a long time, that’s the only perspective I had of him. Now that I’m older and there are children around me, I can appreciate that he, for all of his glaring faults, was always present. Some dads aren’t that way. He was always there and always held us accountable and always to a high standard: nothing ever slipped.

In my case, the penalty inflicted for not meeting those standards was terrible… but as an adult I can have respect and some admiration for a father who makes time everyday to interact with his child, help them be aware of his or her responsibilities, and help the child meet them.

It’s like my ears: I don’t feel it.

Yes, very effective. I worked in commercial construction for a few years.

Really anything that’s fresh from the grocery store can be cooked and added.

It’s also examining one’s own personal consumption patterns. The more one engages with it, the more exposure he or she has.

That’s my take too. This sort of thing could exist in a private collection on Epstein’s island or another wretched hive of scum and villianry. Glad the public had the opportunity to see it before it was privatized.

I’ve experienced this. For me, it was important to be able to communicate w people AND to not give all my data to Facebook apple or google. Since I can’t make ppl care about privacy, the best I could do was stick w SMS/MMS.

Obv, messages I send to ppl who use and android or apple device still get sent up to the mother ship by the receiving device… but I can’t control that.

There are a lot of great apps out there and Signal is one of em. I think if Signal still sent SMS/MMS to ppl without it… I’d reinstall. But without that, I’d be using it all alone.

I try to maintain a habit of starting. Finishing a task is obv a noble goal and building the habiting of starting helps me get there.

Yeah, maybe something like that. I switched to Posteo (from Proton, which didn’t have IMAP back then, and that from Gmail) like a decade ago. And something that I appreciate about it is that I’ve developed a practice/ habit of archiving or deleting old emails.

I save important photos, documents etc to my local disk and then delete the email. For context, I have 70 messages in my inbox.

Like I said above, the way I think about it is they don’t want the cost of guaranteeing additional storage, but it’s just a guess. If you were to send them an email and ask (I’ve sent a couple over the years, they respond to email), I’d be curious what their public response is.

Does Posteo do a bunch of stuff that warrants a high rate for the higher end compared to the very affordable low end?

Posteo offers IMAP, CalDav, and CardDav. (Those were the features which sold me.) I think Tuta, and Proton don’t offer IMAP and none of them offer any WebDAV.

But does that relate to their storage pricing? Hard to say. Usually when I see things that are priced higher than what appears to be market rate, I understand that to mean the service provider doesn’t really want to do the thing. (Guaranteeing the availability of lots of GBs of storage for many users)

They’re great technologies and we should be building them out. Unfortunately, they struggle with intermittency. Renewables like wind and solar would best complement base load, always-on, capacity of a nuclear generating stations.
