I really appreciate mapy.com. They are european (Czech) company. Outside of Czech Republic they base on OSM and have very pretty and useful rendering of “outdoor” map, especially with hiking trails and point of interests almost like on paper map.
They also have their own system of posting images and commenting and have some noticable community, yet much smaller than on google.
You can also contribute to map content, yet I am not sure if they contribute upstream to OSM.
The killer-paid-feature for me is vector offline maps in the “outdoor” flavor, which saved me many times on trips with poor internet coverage.
I hope they survive long before someone buys and enshittifies them.
