I always thought it’d be cool to build one of those remote controled nerf tanks but with a paintball gun. Then set it to patrol the house. It’s a lot more doable now that I’m running home assistant but I’m still not sure how yo make it happen.

My experiences have shown that anyone who wants to govern others isn’t someone who should. Any organization made of such people is undoubtedly responsible for an amount of attricities. That amount probably averages out to the same by age of country across the board. So I doubt there’s any country that’s genuinely better than another because at it’s very core they’re all run by assholes who should not be allowed power.

I played along and tried it with deepseek. Most attempts boiled down to “sorry I can’t tell you how to hurt people” but some creative rewording later and the general answer was unionize and turn AI into a public resource like libraries.

It’s not wrong, but it’s not actually a useful answer.

The other guy gave a better explanation than I could have, but l will chime in emphasis that learning curve. I’m not great at computer stuff but I know my way around Linux and how to find a tutorial, home assistant is just not very user friendly. The ui is really pretty but not intuitive. Of wasn’t clear when I got into it that there’s a software and an OS version and they aren’t identical, the software is missing a lot of the things that the OS gives but the OS apparently isn’t great if youre running other things on your server, mine is set up primarily for jellyfin and I only wanted home assistant to take the stress of constantly dogging my kid about chores off my workload. Don’t let this dissuade you of you’re interested, I genuinely feel like it’s a great thing if you have the time to learn it, but it’s not something to start if you’re already struggling to juggle all your plates.

I have home assistant running on my home server. It’s default use is managing your smart home but my house is too poor to be smart so I use it to push notifications about chores to my kid.

I really want to start a sort of civil movement charity type thing that voluntarily helps minority groups learn to operate and aquire firearms. Especially in the queer community, firearms are considered an icky or scary topic, but in this day and age it’s not something you can afford to be scared of. Breaking down the macho talk of gun culture and sticking to clear, safe facts will go a long way, same for a buddy system to help people people who might not be comfortable entering the gun culture oozing gun store to purchase a gun. I know a lot of women who want to buy a gun but don’t want to be a woman in a gun store.
