only now? With how many russian assets european countries seized around 2022/2023, I assumed Russia would’ve done the same years ago. Was the USA more friendly with Russia than the EU was? Wouldn’t even be surprised if that were the case, seeing as how the EU likes to just shoot itself in the foot in order to lick USA’s boot while the latter just keeps doing business with its literal enemies in war
iirc the did expropriate some companies assets, but keep in mind that doing that scares the bougies which could cause a lot of liquidity escaping the country.

Russia has taken over some assets in the past, but they’ve been surprisingly restrained about it all things considered.
