I guess he has a point, but it’s like saying that what makes you sad about Nazi Germany is the rise in hate towards Germany, and not the deaths of its countless victims.
Sure, a lot of people did, and some still do, hate Germany for its Nazi past. However, isn’t that an incredibly minor issue compared to the attrocities committed, which started this hate in the first place?
And then there’s the fact that he felt the need to post this publicly, unprompted. It looks like he just really likes Israel. I don’t think anyone’d post shit like this otherwise.
Both people in the interview are ethnic supremacists and they exclusively frame the genocide of Palestinians in terms of entirely hypothetical impacts on Jewish people.
I think it’s a somewhat stronger point than that. Nobody ever chased the German population from country to country for centuries with abusive regimes and then finally genocided half their population out of blind hatred. What happened to the Jews in the Holocaust was more or less equally bad as the genocide in Palestine today, they’re in the same ballpark anyway. And it’s really regrettable and in my mind an understandable fear that the state of Israel’s project to identify itself with Jews runs the risk of retroactively justifying the Holocaust in the minds of many. Assholes like Tucker Carlson are already eating from this. Still incredibly gross and insensitive to bring up as the main thing you feel about an ongoing atrocity.
Edit: being too charitable I kind of missed he was talking about Palestinians left alive. Fuck that. I have a mild worry about Americans and Europeans being turned to Jew haters but basically none about Palestinians, this guy can rot in hell.
